Several years ago, Bobby Adams, CI was inspired by a hypnotist he saw doing a performance at the Funny
Bone. Although Adams had no desire to make anyone bark like
a dog, the
field of Hypnotherapy intrigued him.
Adams pursued the study of Hypnotherapy, and complete his education at
Mottin and Johnson in Bridgeton. Adams has worked in conjunction with a
chiropractor in Overland, in St. Ann, and most recently with a renown
Chiropractor at Cedar Hill Chiropractor Care, Dr. Shawn Lavigne.
Hypnosis itself is a state of relaxation or intense concentration during
the brain more readily accepts suggestions. It is a useful tool
for overcoming anxiety, insomnia, pain, or managing a personal issue
such as overeating or smoking. Adams points out, “You cannot be
hypnotized to do something against your will or morals. Hypnosis is a
tool to help you achieve results that you are trying to accomplish.”
Adam’s foremost interest is to serve his clients concerns and needs; To
determine the success rate and the status of his methods, Adams follows
up with former clients. When using hypnosis alone, Adam’s methods have a
success rate of
85% after three sessions. Combining hypnosis with
auricular therapy, which
is acupuncture of the ear, clients experienced
success rates of 92% after three sessions of each.
THE HISTORY OF HYPNOSIS
WHAT ABOUT HYPNOSIS? Say
the word “hypnosis,” and many people immediately think of stage shows
and of people doing unusual things. Other people think of pocket
watches, or spirals twirling. But it is now much more common for
hypnotists simply to ask a subject to stare at a small, stationary
object, such as a colored thumbtack on the wall, during the “induction
patter,” which usually consists of soothing words about relaxation and
suggestions to focus and concentrate.
Whenever the subject
of hypnosis is brought up, questions seem to arise with it. The
following questions are asked repeatedly, by clients, of prospective
clients, and of those who are simply curious. With answers to these
questions, fears are put to rest, myths dispelled, and more people are
able to allow themselves to experience the wonderful benefits of
hypnosis to enhance their lives.
Understanding Hypnosis • Although,
the client may appear asleep, in most cases, they are only extremely
relaxed. Fully aware of all communications and able to respond on
request either by verbal or signal. • A
subject asked to make a specific movement will comply with the request
unless it is objectionable, in which case there will be a refusal. • There is no surrender of mind control. A person who does not want
to be hypnotized cannot be hypnotized or be induced to do or say
anything which violates personal standards of behavior or integrity. • Hypnosis is better described than defined. It is often considered
an altered state of consciousness featuring selective perception, a
process in which the subject chooses to see only what is relevant to his
task, blocking out everything else. Hypnosis involves guided
concentration. • All humans have two distinct minds-the conscious mind and
the unconscious mind. The unconscious is vastly larger and more powerful
than the conscious mind, yet it is the least understood and
used by mankind. • The
subconscious mind receives and retains, neither accepting nor
rejecting, all the messages we receive from our backgrounds, whether
genetic, social, religious, or experimental. When for whatever reason
the conscious mind becomes overloaded, the subconscious prepares us for
what is considered appropriate action. However the subconscious mind
does not analyze, as does the conscious mind, but accepts all messages
in the literal sense. • In
essence, hypnosis is a means of communication between the conscious
mind and the subconscious mind. Many human problems, habits, stresses,
anxieties, attitudes or apparent deficiencies can be traced to
interpretations by the subconscious mind which, when understood by the
conscious mind, can reduce or resolve specific problems. • What
you will experience. Your first visit with your hypnotist will,
primarily, be exploratory. You will learn about hypnotism and become
comfortable with it. Your hypnotist will discuss your interests and
desires to determine if hypnosis can accomplish what you want to
achieve. • If
you both feel that it will be worthwhile to proceed, your hypnotist may
give you some small tests to determine your type of suggestibility,
your ability to relax, your skills at visualization-procedures which
help your hypnotist adapt to you as an individual so as to design
programming personalized for you which will be acceptable to your
subconscious, retained and acted upon in a manner leading to full
How to Make Your New Years Resolutions Work! What is Hypnosis? The word hypnosis is derived from the Greek God
of sleep-Hypnosis. Yet hypnosis is not the kind of sleep like when you go
to bed at night. Hypnosis is a state where you are very relaxed, physically and mentally, while remaining aware of everything going on around you. This is a natural state of mind you go into every day: Daydreaming during class, playing video games, studying for a test or exam, even driving down the highway and reaching your exit without fully remembering the drive, are all examples of being in a light state of hypnosis.
Brief History of Hypnosis: 1. Egyptian Sleep Temples. 2. Have you ever heard the phrase “That person mesmerizes me?” 2. That comes from a man named Anton Mesmer who practiced 2. hypnosis in the 1700’s. 3. Doctors and dentists, even some hospitals are using hypnosis 2. for pain control, easy child birthing and to speed up the healing 2. process.
How Can Hypnosis Help with New Years Resolutions?
You can use hypnosis to create healthy, positive changes in your life, improve sports skills, feel good about yourself and achieve your goals
and dreams! When you go into hypnosis and picture and feel yourself achieving your goals; imagining the fun, healthy activities you'll
do as a non-smoker, or with less weight, or feeling confident about yourself etc. creates a new pattern because once an idea is accepted
into the subconscious mind it will come true.
